Thrifty Thursday How to Update and Use a Stepstool

Thrifty Thursday How to Update and Use a Stepstool

Little wood stools and stepstools are a common item at thrift stores. I always buy them if they are reasonably priced, made from wood, and if after giving them a little shake, they don't wobble. This IKEA stepstool met all three of my criteria so I bought it.

It of course needed an update. I wanted something fresh and fun that would add a pop of color to a space so I decided to paint two-thirds of it a bright, sunny yellow.

I gave the stepstool a light sanding. tightened the screws, and glued and clamped one spot. I then taped of a section and painted. The bright yellow is an oops paint. I used two coats and finished the whole thing with Wise Owl's Furniture Salve. You can get it from my friend HERE.

This little stool sits nicely under a kitchen island space to use when reaching the top shelves.

It is also cute on a porch for seasonal decor.

Use it as a plant stand,

or to hold books.

Wherever it gets used, it adds a nice pop of color to any space.

  1. Love this one too Becky. I like that you didn't paint the whole thing. So many good ideas to use it for too!
