I always like to check out the tool section at our local thrift stores. Sometimes I find tools that I need and can use, often times I find old hand tools that have been discarded for new, better functioning tools. I love the old hand tools with wood handles. They have such a lovely patina. I upcycled two recent finds into picture holders.
All I did was clean up the wood and metal with some Wise Owl Furniture Salve (get it from my friend, Tina, HERE) and then hang them with a few nails.
I propped some vintage Yellowstone Park postcards on them. A little poster putty helps hold them in place without damaging the postcard,
Close-ups of the lovely, old patina that makes my heart go pitter patter:
You can check out what I did with old wood levels HERE.
I might need to put together an entire wall of vintage hand tool picture holders, but until I do, I like these two on a small section of my entryway wall.
