Funky Little Table

I had no idea what I was making when I started cutting some recently acquired trim wood, but soon decided on a little table.  I made the base first from the trim boards and other free wood from a pallet pile.  I then hunted around for a table top and found an old cupboard door that had been stripped on one side.  I was going to paint the base white and stain the cupboard door when I noticed some fantastic paint colors on the edge of the door.
I started sanding on the other side and found white, red, mauve, yellow, orange, bright green all under the minty aqua color.

I decided a funky side table was in order so I painted the base orange and added the fun cupboard door.
And how about this brassy candlestick I painted with Annie Sloan chalk paint?
Oh and a fun little suitcase too.
I love letting the unexpected surprise dictate the project--going with the flow works for me.

  2. Love that table!! How clever of you to sand through the colors and leave it showing. Now, if I can just find some old wood with 6 or 7 layers of paint. Hmmmmmmm!

  3. Very cute!! Love all the colors that you found in the cupboard door. Really adds to it. I'm working on a project right now, not really knowing what the end will bring. Just going with the flow and adding as I go.
