XOXO, Reclaimed Heart

How do you feel about Valentine's Day?  LOVE it, so to speak, or not so much?  I saw on Pinterest that people, especially those on college campuses throw Valentine Hater parties (let's be fair to Saint Valentine here, collegians love to throw ANY kind of party!).

Wow, I never knew there was so much disdain for the holiday.  Me? I think it is a nice day, a fun day, never a huge holiday at my house, but sweet.  I am pretty sure even the years I was single on the day, I didn't dread it or hate it.

But, just in case you feel that way, let's call this project a simple, everyday kind of heart--one not just for lovers, but for friends, moms, kids, sisters, even dogs.  After all, hopefully we all feel some XOXO for someone!

I started with some scrap painted boards that were leftover from other projects, joined them together with boards on the back.

A simple heart painted in white and an XOXO added,

some sanding and stain and you have a lovely sign for any occasion ;)!

  4. That's adorable! I want to try your paint method so badly. I just know it'll never look anywhere near as good as yours. Oh well, I can at least try.

    1. Deb, it is easy! But, I have been practicing for years, so it has developed too and I can pretty much slap paint on with my eyes closed now, LOL!

  5. What a cute project from leftover boards. The candlesticks coordinate so nicely for a cute and unique Valentine's Day display. I just love it!

  6. I love the colors you used...red is my all time favorite hue, but it pops so against the blue and green! Outstanding!
