Y'all, I am going on one month with no internet. I am sitting at Old Chicago typing, eating a calzone, sipping iced tea. Supposedly, I will have internet in the next few weeks, but I am not holding my breath.
So, while my wifi needs have not been met or made any progress, my daughter's bedroom has (hmmm, coincidence that we are getting more done around the housewith no wifi??).
When I last left you we had the carpet torn out and were painting walls. The walls are done in Hearth Gray by Best paint and the floors are down and the barnwood headboard wall is installed.
My daughter is doing all of the designing for her room. She chose Bentley laminate flooring in Riviera tone. After laying the padding,
we began laying the floors on the straightest line we could find in the room, the one next to her bathroom. Now, this line still is not straight, but straight enough.
This is the first tine we have laid laminate flooring and other than the very uneven walls, it was easy. My 13 year old did much of it herself, although dad made the saw cuts.
It turned out great, we love it! She does have her own dust mop in the room--I told her keeping the dark floors clean will be her job. She found a soft, fuzzy rug at Target and is working on her gallery wall lay out.
She wanted a dark barnwood wall. She wanted the wood sanded enough so she wouldn't get slivers, but still rough with character and knots and wood peg holes. I stained the wood with Early American by Minwax.
I started by finding the studs in the wall.
I then held the board in place and got one screw into the stud. I used the level to make sure it was straight and added the the other screws--4 per board.
Her bedding is from Target. Her "theme" is dark barnwood, aqua, grey, salmon, yellow, and some black and white. Sounds like a lot, but it is cute!
We also just found this cute comforter at Target for the extra twin bed in her room. Grey bedskirts are from Wal-Mart--the only place in town I could find bedskirts.
We still need to create/find some lighting, a vanity, chairs and wall decor. But it is coming along nicely and I think I have a future designer on my hands ;).
That room looks lovely! I really like the barn board wall and the colour choices as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Becky. I know you're crazy busy with the new house, but I gotta say I missed your Sunday scripture. I hope you continue to do it when you have the chance. I don't always comment on the post but I do always look forward to reading it. Take care & good luck with all your house renovations.
ReplyDeleteYes, that is a nicely finished room now... (except for the gallery wall). The flooring looks great... and the barnwood headboard wall also is great! I think I would not be happy missing internet that long! Yikes!
