BOHO Twine Jute Wreath

Sometimes, I have no idea what I am going to create. I have no plan, maybe a general idea of what I want, but how I am going to get there and what I am going to end up with is a surprise to even me. I knew I wanted some type of wreath with a spring vibe so I grabbed a few thrift store embroidery hoops and some jute, twine, hemp cord--whatever you call it, curled up under a cozy blanket and started experimenting.

After a few hours (and a few Gilmore Girls episodes) I came up with a boho, spring wreath.

At first I thought I would tie the smaller hoop at an even distance in the center of the larger hoop, but soon decided I wanted something asymmetrical. Starting with a new ball of garden twine, I wrapped and wrapped and wrapped. Every now and then I tied a knot around one of the hoops, especially the smaller one to keep the jute in place.

This took the whole ball of string and a little more.

I then used the colored hemp cord I picked up at the thrift store. This is thin and fairly stiff. I made three little bundles, wrapping the cord around my fingers 5 or so times and then tied the bundle in the middle.

I put three bundles together to make a flower.

I tied the flowers onto the wreath. I also made some leaves in the same way, just tying the bundle at one end rather than in the middle.

I hung the wreath above my nightstand on my navy blue wall.
The wall basket is from the thrift store and is a great place for the gospel journals that my sweet daughter gave me for Christmas. These are beautiful, from Hosanna Revival, and journaling has gotten me back into reading the bible more.

Good supplies, some time, and little play and you never know what you might end up with.
