Stencil a Simple Organic Coffee Sign

Stencil a Simple Organic Coffee Sign

I couldn't wait to try and share Funk Junk's Old Sign Stencils newest design. So, even though today is Thursday, which means I usually share a thrift store project, I am sharing this easy stenciled ORGANIC COFFEE sign instead, It does have a thrift store frame that got for $2 specifically for this project, so it could still qualify as Thrifty Thursday project.

I started with a piece of muslin that I taped to the cardboard piece that was in the frame. I used Scotch tape, but would have used packing tape if I wasn't out. I ironed out a few wrinkles in the muslin before taping it down, but didn't want it too neat.

I really like the size of the stencil and the authentic look. You can get the ORGANIC COFFEE stencil HERE!
How to Stencil a Sign
I wanted a worn look so I made sure to dab off as much paint as possible from my stencil brush. Doing this on newspaper that absorbs the paint makes it easier to get the paint off the brush.
How to Stencil a Sign
In some spots I barely stenciled any paint at all, again to give it a worn look. When stenciling on wood, if you get too much paint, you can sand it off. It is not so easy with fabric, so less is more to start.

I hung the framed coffee sign on the barn style door to my pantry.
I decided this side of the hall needed a little something and a "food" (coffee is a food group, right?) sign is perfect for the pantry door.

To hang it, I used Command Adhesive strips like THESE, which makes it very secure.

This took less than 30 minutes to make. I love the wrinkled muslin and the faded look of it. I can't wait to use this stencil on over items--crates, trays, maybe my outdoor table.
