Eclectic Rustic Christmas Decor in the Entryway

I typically wait until Thanksgiving weekend to decorate for Christmas. But, with ten inches of snow outside and temperatures in the teens, I am ready for Christmas decor now! It is still all fall decor on the front porch, too cold to decorate it right now, but here is a picture of the snow looking through the front doors.

For now, I started with decorating my front INSIDE entryway. When I painted and stenciled (HERE) the entryway earlier in the year, I knew it was going to be fun to decorate it for Christmas. A few simple additions and changes from my fall decor, and I have the perfect for me, eclectic, rustic Christmas.

I took a lot of pictures because the sun was streaming through the windows beautifully, so be ready for photo overload. Keep reading to see them all.

I don't have a fireplace or mantel so this entryway shelf gets treated and decorated as one. The shelf is made from pallets and it is a project from my second book, Wood Pallet Wonders. (affiliate link) You can buy the book HERE.

The red berry garlands are rosehips that I strung this fall. The darker one I strung a few years ago. The pine garland is faux. I bought it several years ago. It really pays to buy high quality faux greenery, it looks so much better and lasts for years. I will add some fresh pine boughs in this garland as it gets closer to Christmas. I used nails on the top shelf to hold it in place.

The baskets are from the thrift store and they stay up on the shelf year round. The old camera in a leather case is also a thrifted find and works as a bookend. The baskets and leather add a warm, organic feel to the vignette.

I changed out the books for mostly green bindings, a couple red. I love using vintage books to add a touch of whichever color I am decorating with.

The heavy, brass pinecone candle holder is a fifty cent thrift store find, along with the gold candle which came in a brand new box of eight for $2. I love placing a candle in front of a mirror to reflect the light when lit.

I let the pine garland hang down on one end of the shelf and added a bunch of jingle bells. I will share in the next few days how I made this bell bunch.

On the other end of the shelf, I flipped my fall Chinese Lantern painting over (you can see it HERE) I painted this using old wood scraps as my paintbrushes.

I used some black and gold for the background. I wanted a black background, but knew the dark green and brown wouldn't show up well on the black so I opted for a tan. The wood bead garland stays up year round. i made it from a thrift store foot massager and you can see that blog post here.

I added faux greenery stem and some pinecones to another leather case.

Some mistletoe hanging from the entryway light, a cream wool blanket on the bench, and a small tree with twinkle lights where a plant was (it is too cold in this entry for live plants in the winter) and the entryway is finished. I do actually hang a few of my coats in here, as do guests. A few simple items added was all it took to give this entryway a warm and inviting feel for Christmas. I love the mix of textures and the browns with the greens and sparse red touches. Except for the faux greenery, everything is either from a thrift store or something I created.

Okay, which area of the house will get the Christmas touch next?
