Some things are best left as is...

It has the barn red paint on it still, and a lovely, weathered patina.

I have sold three benches in my booth in the past week, so a bench was calling tobe built from this wood.

Construction is simple--two 40" boards for the top, two 17" x 10" boards for the legs and 1" x 2" boards to join the top together and attach the legs.

I added a shelf, which is always a bonus storage spot for baskets and crates, and it helps to make the bench more sturdy. I did spray the wood lightly with a clear coat to protect it.

Simple. Rustic. Lovely. 💓

  2. HI!. How do you keep the bench from leaning right or left? What is it braced with? Thank you very much.

    1. The braces attached to the legs and the shelf keep it sturdy. I used as long of screws as possible when securing everything. Sometimes I have to add an angled brace underneath and to the leg to create the "triangle" that makes everything sturdy. This one is very sturdy without the angled brace.
