Sunday Verses

Happy Easter! Today we celebrate the empty tomb. We celebrate Jesus's victory over death. We remember the hope of his promises and are assured that Jesus will do what he says he will do, we need only to believe. May today remind you that there is victory over death, light in the dark places, healing where there is pain, hope when things seem hopeless. Rejoice and rest--Jesus has conquered the grave!

I definitely believe in the saying, "One man's trash, is another man's treasure" and I am sure the former owners of our 1931 schoolhouse thought these old grates (I found three tucked in a corner of the basement) were junk.

Sunday Verses

Happy Sunday!  I have been busy--busy building and parenting and "doing".  In all the busyness, the doing of things that needed to be done and the thinking of the things that didn't get done, but should have, I started thinking about and thanking God for the gift of his  grace.  Each week on Sundays I suggest ways to apply God's word to our lives by trusting and praying and giving our stresses to God. These are tools and ways of living that make life easier.  But our salvation is not earned or something that we can work hard for or gain by "doing".  Our salvation is a gift that comes from Christ alone when we believe in him.  Busy is fine, working on living out God's plan is great, but let's rest in remembering that we do not have to work for his grace. 

Rustic Industrial Spool Table

A friend did a little pickin' for me at an estate sale and one of the things she got for me was a round table top that had been made from a cable or wire spool. It wanted to be a table again, so I created this rustic, industrial table--perfect for a small coffee or cocktail spot.

Sunday Verses

Happy Sunday! I think most of us believe that God's power is available to us to help us in this life, but I think we (or at least I) try to tell God how to use his power.  The power is HIS and we are asked to be like windmills that turn as needed to harness it.  We need to listen and watch and see what Jesus is doing and tune in to it. God is a God of specifics and we can try and tell him what we specifically need or want, but He always has a better plan than we do.  If we let him have all the power, and stop trying to control and direct life, God will work HIS way--the best way!
