Defining Goals

Happy MORE Monday!  Whether you have been joining me from the beginning of 2017 or this is your first day here, today is the day (and this week is the week) to stop and pause and redefine your goals for the year. This is also our regrouping week because if we don't take a moment to reflect and refocus, we typically throw the towel in and give up.

You see, many of us make New Year's resolutions and many of us vow to make the year better than the past, but we don't achieve those goals.  We get busy, we don't make changes, we quit, we even forget what we initially resolved on January 1st.

So, this week we are going to take a few minutes to review and redefine our goals.  Hopefully, we are going to refocus our energies on changing those things we want to change and remember what we want more of this year.

Let's start with narrowing down our goals. Because while I have shared lots of smaller things I want more of this year, they all fall into bigger goals.  Spend a few minutes (or a few days) picturing what you really want and need this year and list two or three bigger picture goals on this

Be sure to list the WHY behind the goal because let's face it, if we don't know why we are doing something, it loses its importance.  For example, you might want to lose weight this year (because let's face it, that is a huge, popular resolution). WHY do you want to lose weight, what will you gain by achieving this goal?  Oh sure, looking good in your skinny jeans is a fun by-product to weight loss, but what about the big whys--being healthier to live longer to be around for grandkids, having more energy for the people in your life, being happier.  Really take the time to look at the bigger picture and define WHY you have set something as a goal.

Now that you have thought about the BIG goals you need to keep them in the forefront of your mind each week as we look at the little parts that help us reach the bigger goals. And, some weeks the MORE Monday posts may not help you achieve YOUR goals and that is okay, you can ignore those weeks or create your own small, easy steps that week.

Write those goals on post it notes and put them on your mirror, in your car, on the kitchen cupboards--wherever you will see them daily and keep picturing what you want to achieve and WHY.

Here is a list of the past MORE Monday posts with FREE printables and which BIGGER goal category they may fall under. Some are listed under more than one category.
