Cupboard doors are a staple in my junker's diet. I used to get them at the Habitat for Humanity Restore for a dollar or two. Then I found a cabinet manufacturer that sells lots of their unusable cabinet doors. I usually get 50 or so for $15! I can hardly ever tell what is even wrong with them. I make lots of things from them--coat hooks, chalkboards, use them as table tops, or as cupboard doors (I know, cupboard doors used as cupboard doors--how creative!)

This one I decoupaged notecards on it and added hooks.
This one is a decoupaged picture from the computer. Hint--spray the picture first with a clear acrylic finish or else the ink will run when you decoupage it.

The yellow one is decoupaged pictures from an old Dick and Jane book and the purple one was just the cupboard door frame. I made it into a bulletin board.
On this one I did a mosaic with old dishes.

I also make chalkboards out of the cupboard doors. I use the brush on chalkboard paint--it is much more economical than the spray on kind--and I usually do two coats of the chalkboard paint.
So--keep your eyes open for cupboard doors--these are an invaluable resource!
Great ideas! I love that nest you painted. I like to use doors and shutters for lots of stuff too. And yes, I saw all those wonderful lacy projects in CL - cut 'em out, put them in the "love it" book =) Blessings... POlly
ReplyDeleteI love all of your cupboard door ideas! I'm going to store your ideas until I come across some cheap/free doors. I'm new to blogging, too. I look forward to seeing more of your creative ideas!
